When you leave Auckland drive north until you reach Whangarei. Head east following the signs to Tutukaka. When you reach the coast you will come across a little seaside town call Ngunguru continue over the hill to Tutukaka keep going over the next hill and about two thirds of the way down the other side is Maona Nui.  If you reach the next little township call Matapouri you have gone to far.
